Based on DLP technology, the Optoma ES520 device delivers 2600 ANSI lumens, a resolution of SVGA 800 x 600 and a contrast of 2500:1 as a projector. According to Optoma, the included lamp lasts up to 3000 hours. Looking at practical performance, up to 444 cm can be illuminated with 2600 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 296 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 30 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. This model dates back to 2008 and is no longer part of Optoma's current product range.

Bought the projector on Ebay at the end of May with only 9 hours of use.... Super! I thought, but now 5 mt. later it has so many PIXEL ERRORS that I can‘t even count them anymore and the colors change at the beginning when I turn it on.... so I can‘t recommend it and I will dig a little deeper into my pocket for the next projector and buy a new one with a guarantee!!!

Good device, cheap installation and absolutely lousy service...
Hello,
Ive had the device for almost half a year now and Im very divided in my opinion. The picture, the volume and the device itself are very good.
BUT... The workmanship is the last thing. Ive already sent my device to the repair service a second time because dust keeps getting into the engine. This is absolutely incomprehensible to me, since I ALWAYS take care of my devices. I was then told by the workshop manager of the corresponding repair company (I wont mention the name, you can see it above) that this is “normal” for such a “cheap device”. Optoma itself was shocked by these statements and after a long back and forth, my device is currently being cleaned again as a final gesture of goodwill. Between this and the last service was just a month. Unfortunately, I am offered no solution to this problem. Furthermore, this is my third projector and I had never had such problems.
Conclusion: The repair company is absolutely rude and unoriented to customers... Thanks to the nice people at Optoma I was able to get something done there only after applying pressure.
I have already sold/installed some Optoma devices myself and think these devices are good. But unfortunately, you are completely abandoned with the repair company and therefore I currently advise against these devices.

So-so
Hello,
I was also enthusiastic about the ES520 at the beginning, but now the brightness of the projector suddenly diminished a few days ago. A movie is only just tolerable in a completely darkened room. And all this with 618 hours of operation. It‘s a real shame, but I can only recommend this device to a limited extent.

For the price (300 euro) Top
I got the projector on 24.12 and am completely satisfied. For 300 euro the device is really top.
Pro:
-picture quality for 300 euro top
-also on the day picture quality "ok "
-sound loud
-only 300 euro
-4000 hours echo
Contra
-cooling phase only 10 sec
-volume has only 10 levels
-no 60 Hz (some xbox 360 games require 60 hz!!)
Who must play a lot of xbox 360 with the beamer should rather buy a beamer with hdmi, for people who want to invest wneig money slam.

Good projector at a low price
After searching the internet for a long time for an affordable projector, I decided on the Optoma ES520. I can only say it was a good choice. I use the projector to play PS2 and then mainly to watch the Bundesliga. Even in a bright room you still get a very good picture, that‘s all you need! The volume is outstanding, you can hardly hear the fan at all. Unfortunately, the projector has no zoom, so the distance to the screen leaves no alternative.

Where to buy?
Hello mskassel, would like to know where you got the projector with screen for the price. So far I‘ve only found offers without a screen for around €300. Thanks in advance.

Good quality at a low price
I got the ES 520 for 300 euros including a 180 mm roll screen.
I‘m absolutely satisfied with the price-performance ratio.
With a diagonal and a seating distance of about 5 meters, the pixels are small enough
not to be noticed...despite the low resolution.
The triple assignment of the VGA socket is particularly nice.
So I only need to lay one cable to send HD, RGB and VGA signals
to the projector.
Absolutely recommendable...
