As a projector, the Sony VPL HS51 combines LCD technology with a resolution of HDTV 1280 x 720, and is additionally specified with 1200 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 1000:1. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 2000 hours. Thanks to the combination of optical lens shift and digital keystone correction, the projected image's position can be adjusted very flexibly. The Projector Calculator helps find the optimal installation dimensions. Looking at practical performance, up to 352 cm can be illuminated with 1200 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 235 cm. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket. This model dates back to 2004 and is no longer part of Sony's current product range.
