Brief Introduction
Beta 2.5
A brief introduction to the W6500: The Benq High-End Homecinema BrilliantColor DLP projector offers 2500 Ansi-Lumen, a contrast of 60000:1 and a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution. With the lens shift function, the projector can be positioned very freely. 2500 Ansi lumens ensure that a picture width of 508 cm is also possible. However, if room light is available, the picture should be max. 339 cm wide. Even 1080P video signals are no problem for the projector. This model is no longer offered by Benq, but is still very popular in our projector database. It should also be noted that, unfortunately, there are no longer any replacement lamps available for this projector, neither originals nor replicas.

Benq W6500 Ratings

2.5 Stars Expensive, RBE and contrast poor
Bought the Benq new at the time and after 7 months the lamp broke, even though the projector had only been running for just under 50 hours - Benq didn‘t want to fix it under warranty because the lamp is wear material. RBE is more pronounced than on my father‘s XV-Z3300 (the Sharp has hardly any RBE!). The replacement lamp is expensive to buy. All in all, the Benq didn‘t convince me. Well, I switched to a competitor‘s model. Now everything is better and especially the replacement lamps are 60% cheaper :-)

5 Stars Top Beamer
Have seen the projector running next to 20 other projectors and clearly decided in favor of it.....
Makes a super picture, even in bright rooms and the shift lens function makes placement even easier...
the only competitive beamer stamt from the house sharp... all of them don‘t offer a shift lens function...

From my side a real buy recommendation... for a cinema room without restrictions I would also take a look at a model from Sharp for comparison (they also make great products)

4.8 Stars Best photo work
As a photographer, I am now able to project my images directly using the Benq W6500 so that the entire team can see the result and better understand and implement changes.

The brilliant image quality now makes the assessment of illumination and color representation much easier.

4.8 Stars BenQs finest
I can only agree with that! For me, it has even completely replaced the TV! I have it hanging in the living room where I don‘t always want to darken the room and I still have a vivid, high-contrast picture! However, I use the BenQ 1 gamma mode with color temperature set to WARM and Brilliant Color ON and only use the settings described by Rolf at night.

4.8 Stars Projector for large images!
Hello,

Rolf has said everything that is important!
May also note:
Projector distance to screen 8 meters, screen width 3.5 meters. In Eco mode and not optimal room conditions a bright perfect picture.

We are thrilled.

Greetings Max.

4.8 Stars A wolf that, when tamed, delivers a fantastic picture
Bright...brighter... almost too bright. Even in economy mode.
The ideal device for not quite optimized dark rooms.
----------------------
Out of the box: Ideal setting:
Lamp in economy mode.
Home cinema mode on,
Color temperature on normal,
Dynamic Black on,
Brilliant Colour off!!!!(otherwise the image will have a greenish cast and colors will be muddier)
Brightness 50
Contrast 50
Color 50

B Bias 50 (slight deviations possible due to serial scattering)

Positioning:
Large flexible zoom range!
Example: For a 2.2 mtr wide image, the distance must be between 3.8 and 5.5 mtr.
Manual, horizontal and vertical lens shift. Lens shift. (Rare with DLPs!!)
Very good optics, sharp right into the corners.

Image quality:
Once adjusted, the new Benni conjures up breathtaking high-contrast images on the screen. Very natural skin colors. Thanks to Dynamic Black, the black level is also very good, even up to completely dark (light off) when the picture is black. The only thing is that the iris can be heard whirring slightly when it is working, but the noise is not intrusive or annoying.
In general, the W6500 is pleasantly quiet in economy mode, but not inaudible (it gets a bit louder in full mode). There are quieter projectors, but not with the light output of the Benq. Even with well-adjusted colors, it is still net in the 1100 lumen range.

On my 2.20 m wide screen (gain 1.0) the light output is insane

Benq has probably also revised the DLP control. The typical tearing of the image when panning horizontally, as was the case with one of (my) predecessors (Benq PE7700), has completely disappeared. The picture remains sharp when panning, and the rainbow effect has been minimized, despite the color wheel speed remaining the same. (I suspect that the DLP is also double-pulsed).

Other:
No printed operating instructions (only PDF on CD)
2 separate HDMI inputs
