Equipped with LCD technology, the Medion MD 2950 offers 1200 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 400:1 and is designed as a versatile projector. The runtime of the lamp in this model is estimated at 1500 hours before a replacement is necessary. Regarding projection size, the value of 1200 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 302 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 201 cm. The projector was released in 2003 and is officially no longer distributed by Medion. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.
After 24 years and countless projector hours, the projector has literally gone dark. I had wanted to buy a new projector in 2023 to see dark scenes better and I found that I was happier with this Medion projector: significantly quieter than ACER H6541BDi (47 dB) and Epson EH-TW7000 (47 dB) and subjectively only slightly dimmer (scenes from Downtown Abbay compared). The other projector of the same model, also 24 months old, still works, but the colours are no longer as saturated. A newer projector is probably significantly better.

Medion MD 2950 NA
I bought the projector in 2004 before the European Championships. I have never replaced the lamp even though it has already clocked up over 3000 hours. I made my own screen. A wooden frame measuring 150 x 200 cm, which I covered with a silk matt fabric. The fabric is from a wedding dress (leftover bale). And behind it a black fabric to make the contrast stand out better. The picture and sound come from the PC (Logitech Sound Blaster 5.1) Simply superb. Just like in a real movie theater.

Good all-rounder but no HD suitability
Have owned this projector for 5 years now, the lamp has been down for 1900 hours and still produces a good picture. Picture width 2.44m the room should be slightly darkened, the more you darken the better it gets. For normal DVD playback and via DVB-S with S-VHS output, this is a very good projector for the money. There‘s a little trick to get around the gated display: don‘t focus the projector completely, just enough to blur the gates, which hardly makes any difference to the moving picture. In the meantime, these things are going for between 100 and 150 euros on Ebay in view of the 2010 World Cup games, you could plan something in advance here, 1a projector for watching soccer, e.g. garage on an old sheet. And if something goes wrong, it‘s no problem at this price (fast LCD panel installed).

The projector still performs well in an averagely lit room. The lamp life is also average. It is a good mix of the conflicting interests of price and performance.

Top entry-level projector
I‘ve had the projector for a few years now. I almost only watch movies (DVDs) with it. Except when my TV was defective, it was also used for watching TV. Today you can get good used ones (with a short runtime) on E-Bay for between 200 and 300 euros

Question
What is an "amateur wall"? Is there also a "professional wall"?

Well yes, I bought the projector for 600 euros on E-bay. Realized that it is a NEC VT 45 projector.
Have by chance had about 10 different screenings with it in cinemas with amazing quality.
You can see the LCD grid, even at home on a 3 meter amateur wall....
but for the price it was great....

Experience with MD2950
Good beamer, the noise is acceptable. when you project from 3 to 4 meter the picture is clear and reasonable. The beamer has a weak yellow projection. Also the contrast could be better. Since I project now from a distance at 7 meters to a 2 meter wide screen you see the leak of capacity. For that reason Im looking now for a new projector (the zoom is not good enough).
Usage,
Pc with Microsoft Media Center wireless contected to the beamer
Use the beamer as a TV
