The basic data of the Sharp XV Z18000 includes 1400 ANSI lumens, a resolution of HDTV 1920 x 1080 as well as a contrast of 33000 full on/off. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 2000 hours. Regarding projection size, the value of 1400 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 380 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 253 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P. The projector was released in 2009 and is officially no longer distributed by Sharp.

Over the years I have had experience with LCD, CRT (Sony) and most recently an Epson TW-700. However, I always found the contrast and sharpness lacking. The Sharp is my first DLP. I bought it used from a dealer for 700€ 1/2 year ago. I was able to compare the Sharp with other Full HD projectors and had the impression that I could hardly get a better picture even for a price of more than €2000. I don‘t watch Full HD from BD but HDTV (720p and 1080i) as well as DVD and DVD-HD. Although I always have some ambient light on (living room), the picture impression is much crisper and richer in contrast than the TW-700, for example, even in ECO mode. The XV-Z18000 is also nice and quiet in ECO mode. The only weak point for me is the zoom range, where the TW-700 was much more flexible. In any case, I‘m currently very happy with this great device!

When the Sharp was new, I bought it immediately and it convinced me in all respects. Its contrast and sharpness are amazing. In Full HD, it impresses with its flexible picture design in terms of brightness and picture depth. The dynamic iris diaphragm can be switched on and off, which is very practical.

super projector
after looking around for a long time, I also decided on the sharp after seeing it live at media star and I have to say I‘m totally thrilled
I can‘t confirm the negative points mentioned here.
the sharp has a super sharp picture and even with some residual light in the room a very detailed picture
the black level is also very good in ecu mode and i have never experienced such a quiet projector
admittedly the installation radius is somewhat limited but if you have the opportunity to use it like me i can only recommend the projector!

I got the Sharp home with high expectations for testing.
The RRP is a marketing gag, but that‘s well known by now.
The workmanship, optics and features are unrivaled ridiculous for the price.
I had one of the first (probably with the first firmware) and the bezel worked very annoying and visible.
The fan was too runny for me and the case made a cheap and rickety impression.
The missing LS and the non-remote optics gave me the rest.It‘s inflexible and looks like a half-heartedly converted presentation projector (Sharp is more at home there these days)
The picture looked flat compared to my JVC HD350 (at home at the same time)
All in all, as a former DLP fan (used to have a Toshiba MT-5, NEC HT1000, Optoma H79) I was/am very disappointed.
DLP technology has lost a lot of ground and the attempt to cover this up with the poor auto iris has clearly backfired.
Fingers off, even 2500 euros new price is too much for the device!

You should already know that
Hello,
there are also minus points, but nobody writes what surprises me.
- clear motion blur, ok almost all projectors have it.
- no power switch.
- grotty bad remote control without light (it‘s dark in my home theater).
- weak menu with few setting options.
Price/performance compared to RRP: satisfactory at best,
but the RRP is only a moon price at street price anyway

Outshines everything comparable
I saw the projector at a presentation by Mediastar. For comparison, there was a Viewsonic Full HD, Samsung SP A 800B, Benq W20000, Epson TW 5000 and Epson TW 3800.
The Sharp was better than the other projectors in all areas (sharpness, image stability, colors, contrast) by far.
Just for your information: the Samsung projector was my personal home theater projector that I had always been satisfied with until then.
It was quite a shock to see how bad the picture was compared to the Sharp, even with the Sharps default settings!!
I spontaneously decided to buy the Sharp yesterday, though it was a good price.
p.s. The disadvantage of the Sharp, however, is the lack of lens shift and the small installation radius.
