Brief Introduction
 Beta 2.5 |
The Benq model MS527 is a DLP projector with SVGA 800 x 600 resolution and a contrast of 13000:1. The manufacturer specifies a lamp life of 10000 hours, which is over 13.7 years with a daily viewing time of 2 hours. The projector will be able to illuminate a picture width of 500 cm well. If room light is available, however, the picture width should ideally not exceed 333 cm. Playing 1080P and 3D is also no problem for the projector. The model built in 2016 is no longer offered by Benq, but is still very popular in our projector database.

Positive:
Whether in normal, eco or economy mode, the MS527 shines brilliantly. Even in daylight (indoors) you can see everything clearly. I also think the blackboard mode is great. Whether the wall is green, red, yellow or blue, the colors look quite natural. The very simple operation and menu navigation make the operating instructions almost superfluous ;-)
The noise of the fan is also barely perceptible. The long life of the lamp (seen on Amazon for around 45 € without socket) should also not be missing from the positive rating.
Negative:
Of course, the MS527 is not a short-distance projector but at 3.5m it would be nice if the picture was larger than 170cm x 110cm (4:3), hence half a point deduction.
Conclusion:
I originally wanted to buy an LED projector because the lamp life is well over 20000 hours. However, LED projectors are not nearly as bright as DLP projectors, which is a serious disadvantage in the long term. And if the LED should give up the ghost, I haven‘t found any replacement lamps yet - ergo throw it in the bin. So it‘s not really environmentally friendly. I bought my used projector with 141 hours for €140, new ones are available from various dealers for around €300.
